Our story
About the Maryland Holiday Light Spectacular in Timonium, MD
A walk-through Christmas lights tradition at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. 75,000 guests in our first two seasons, and a third season that is our biggest yet.
A New Maryland Tradition
The Maryland Holiday Light Spectacular began with a simple idea: a holiday light show you could actually walk through. No car, no line of traffic, no windshield between you and over a million lights.
Set on a half-mile trail through the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, the Spectacular grew into one of the region’s favorite holiday traditions almost overnight: more than 75,000 guests walked the trail in the first two seasons alone, from Baltimore, across Maryland and down the I-83 corridor from Pennsylvania.
And it is built to give back. A portion of event proceeds goes to the Maryland State Fair and its 4-H programs, so every ticket helps.
Three Seasons and Growing
The Lights Go On
The first Spectacular opens at the fairgrounds: a half-mile walking trail of over a million lights, a winter carnival and live Santa. Maryland shows up.
Bigger and Warmer
40% more larger-than-life scenes, the Cosmic Christmas Heat Zone debuts, and the holiday bar arrives in VIP. Two-season total: 75,000 guests.
Our Biggest Season Yet
A new space display, red, white and blue for America’s 250th, 30% more scenes, Horseland returns, and the enhanced VIP Lodge.
